Dear Friend,

I’m overweight.

Maaaybe it’s not super obvious on screen — in a video crop that excludes my midriff, which remains hidden behind loose, comfortable clothing.

But the scale doesn’t lie.

I’ve seen my fat percentage rise over the past decade and spent the past few years teetering on the upper limit of ‘healthy’.

Well, I’ve recently blown well beyond it, into the ‘overweight’ category — aided by a recent visit back home to the USA, where I couldn’t pass up all of the delicious opportunity in my beloved Dairyland: cheese, frozen custard, kringles (they’re Danish, but also a Racine thing) and summer sausage. Not to mention, my high school bestie’s mom made me a batch of her always impeccable chocolate chip cookies.

Admittedly, I have spent plenty of time feeling bad about my decline in health.

And I strangely feel much better, now that I’m owning it — knowing that I can shape up, without shaming myself for past choices.

So, if you have a sneaking suspicion that your body could do with better fuel and more movement, this is your invite to listen.

Your body is your spaceship. It literally carries you through space, as you go about your everyday life.

Love it, nourish it, cherish it.

The silver lining of admitting we’re not currently in optimal health is that we can choose how we repair our bodies — in a way that best suits each of us.

FYI: I haven’t gone completely Spartan because there are still some lovely gifted treats floating around from Christmas, lol. And also because I know that I can still indulge a bit without making or breaking an entire diet. (I’ll just arrive at my goal more slowly. But probably more joyfully.)

So, friend, if you’re in the same boat as me, let’s purposefully glow up together. Our future selves will thank us!

Want some accountability? Comment one thing that you’re going to do for you and your body below. Then come back and let us know you booked your own ‘tick-et’ (✅) to better health.

We’ve got this.

Sharing infinite love,

Ali
