Dear Friend,
Last week I shared a quick letter about being overweight — and the silver lining of owning the situation in order to improve it.
But I must say, this silver lining is even better!
If you’re embarrassed by your body shape, you’ve gotta stay tuned.
Because I’ve been there. I often hide behind baggier clothing aaaaand I almost broke my tough-as-nails thumbnail trying to pull out my swimsuit bottom wedgie at the splash park — as I attempted to cover my derriere at light speed.
So, I was lying in bed, when the nagging thought that I’m overweight visited me again.
Then I started wondering about that word: overweight. It means I currently have more fat mass than is optimal for my health.
Howeverrr, I am not too overweight to do so many amazing things.
And it’s the same for you.
Because in all likelihood, your current body can transport you through space with a walk, skip, jump or twirl.
Your lungs effortlessly take in life-sustaining oxygen, as you breathe in familiar scents that you subconsciously associate with a myriad of memories, transporting you in time back to when they were created.
Your eyes and brain translate wavelengths into a spectrum of all the colors available in nature, as they vary from dusk to dawn and season to season — and your ears transmit gorgeous soul-soothing melodies or pick-me-up tunes to improve your mood.
Meanwhile, you employ your hands to cook delicious meals, fix things up around the home or create cute crafts.
Your speaking and singing voice continually deliver your thoughts into words.
And, best of all, your arms (however firm or flabby) can warmly wrap loved ones in a hug, holding them for hours.
We take all these actions for granted, but our bodies’ ability is truly miraculous.
So, let’s cherish our bodies and take good care of them.
Sharing infinite love,
Ali
